#22: Through the Window Comes a Light

The third in my anniversary songs, because it was written for my third anniversary. This one is just a choral piece, where I recorded myself 33 times to form an 8-part chorus. It was a bit trickier than “From Below, a Glimpse of Elysium” because this one didn’t use a click track since there was no consistent tempo. After some thought, I decided not to overthink the tempo and rhythm or overproduce the track because it would make the song sound extremely fake. (It’s a happy accident that this led to the piece taking far less time and work to produce.) This is how I sound. No processing on my voice.

At the moment, the piece is only available on Bandcamp. It’s in the process of being uploaded to streaming but that’s taking its sweet time.

Extra #15: Vibeo Grames, Vol. 6

And another Game Jam! This was created for the “RPG Maker 2025 Game Jam,” yet another collaboration with Wrong Way Games. It’s called “Spirit Search” and is a quick little story about a girl who has to solve her own murder from beyond the grave. Honestly what I enjoyed the most was being excessive and indulgent with some of the writing because, well, I’m excessive and indulgent as a person.

#21. From Below, a Glimpse of Elysium

Well, I did another Charity EP Jam. This year’s prompt was “Sanctuary,” and I wanted to take it in a slightly different direction. The story is a person struggling through a vast sort of emptiness who suddenly experiences a taste of an otherworldly realm, only for the vision to suddenly end and the vast emptiness to return.

To create this piece, I first wrote an eight-part chorale on paper. Then I reversed everything - the pitches, rhythms, tempo changes, and even the syllables in the lyrics. From there, I recorded myself singing the reversed version of the chorale, four times per part for a total of 32 recordings. Finally, I reversed the audio. So the final product contains a chorale which plays forwards but is sung backwards.

The album is available on Bandcamp, and all proceeds go to the charity Able Gamers.
