Real Music on Fake Pianos - “Bachlets”

Batch no. 3 of classical music, each piece inside from the book “First Lessons in Bach,” varying in difficulty from very easy to intermediate. Why record mostly easy pieces? Well, I had nothing else to do in January so I wanted something I could practice and record and release all in one month. (Takes a while from finishing the recordings to them going live, though.) The pieces are nice, too. Just ‘cause it’s easy doesn’t mean it isn’t worth playing. This time around I used a layer of rhodes and a synth pad.

#24: The Great Mysteries of the World

I participated in the Charity EP Jam of 2026, presenting the album “Wonder.” For this year’s release, I wanted to make a comedy song, as it’s something I haven’t done a lot of, and given how serious the previous year’s music was, I thought it was important to take myself down a peg. The album is available on Bandcamp. All proceeds go to the Able Gamers charity.

#23: Preludes of Rock

A series of 24 piano pieces, designed around a very particular and popular chord progression. I’ve wanted to do something like this for years but finally got to work in mid-2025. Since everything here is based on the same four chords, the main challenge was finding ways to keep the pieces varied. I also needed use the chords in unusual ways without moving so far away from the progression that they were no longer connected to the main idea. Anyway, I’m the greatest musician of all time so naturally I nailed it. Sheet music is available.

(There are currently no recordings of these pieces available. I would love to make some but have no plans as to when I would do that.)

Real Music on Fake Pianos - Muzio Clementi: Sonatinas Op. 36

The second batch of classical music, using a keyboard sound that I wanted to make sure was very clearly not acoustic. This time I used a “piano” sound, but I hope it’s incredibly clear immediately this is not a genuine piano.
